stumbled across this video on skin bleaching and i just needed to share it with all of you. its really insightful and the message it sends out is something worth pondering over.
in my opinion, i think tyra did a good job by highlighting the social stigma in our society. idk if you watched the whole vid because she went on to say how the world has this little box that put their standards of beauty in, by having so many fairer dark skinned women in the entertainment industry such as halle berry, herself, beyonce etc, adding on that the most beautiful woman she knows is a black miss USA. im not a fan of tyra but i applaud her for bringing such a sensitive topic up because no one like to touch on topics like these hence the vicious cycle of "ideal beauty" continues. it wasnt so much of judging but to tell everyone that people are going to such extremes because they fall victims of name-calling, bullying etc. i think the message sent out in this vid is to love you for you, and to stop racism/colourism. diff people have diff views when they watch something, i brought home something valuable after watching it, so i wanted to share. i hope you got something to keep too. just saying.
i really enjoyed e video bcoz i think its more than juz skin colour issues there.
it is indeed a v sensitive issue and i am glad she brought it up. juz like how models should be skinny, women should have flawless skin, light complexion. i think its juz creating a barbie doll like society tt juz benefits marketers. like how korea is poison with plastic surgery. its slowly spreading to other parts of e world.
its really sad. i really hope tt people can juz accept themselves for who they are. after all, as a christ follower, i believe we are weaved by the master's own hands. and he designed us with His definition of perfection in mind.
with the hope and goal of bettering ourselves, lets not swing to extremes bcoz at e end of e day, really... there's so much more to life than that.
