meow! have been busy the past week and getting ready for my lasik surgery. i went for the pre-assessment today and quote un-quote my opthamolagist, "your cornea is nice and thick." hence im all set for it tomorrow! i wonder if there's anyone who's contemplating it too and wants to read a review? if so, i could do a little review for you guys. if not i'll probably skip it, i dont want anyone to fall asleep reading my wordy and overly scientific entry. my pupils are still kinda dilated from the assessment as i type this, perfect for the wide-eyed kitty cat look. only thing is, there's no one here to look at it. oh well. wednesday liberations tomorrow will have to wait my dears!

honest ade - an organic lemonade.

the other day, i was speaking to a friend about the rise in weddings you get invited to when you reach a certain age. women will tell you that the big 3-0 is the dreaded age, as all women have an "expiry date". if you arent seeing anyone and marriage isnt in the cards yet, its a cause to worry about. because we all dont want to be left on the shelf while the good ones get taken right? and, we have a biological clock that wouldnt stop ticking!

but hey, it seems like the men also have the same mentality, most are looking to settle down when they hit their 30s-late 30s. generally women prefer to date older men, of course there are individuals who have different views. im speaking for myself basically, i like a more matured man, 5-8 years older is ideal, because stability, security and sensibility comes with it (but ladies, im sure you can agree with me that matured men can be very childish too). so if you calculate, say a man who's 35 looking to settle down, the lady will be 27ish. see, men and women are on the same marriage-age wavelength after all.

so, before you settle down, you'll need to of course be dating for quite a bit already, 2-5 years perhaps. which means, a good time to be serious (less of a slut for females and less of a jerk for males), would be early to mid twenties for females and mid to late twenties for males.

if youre getting older and youre slowly seeing the "good ones" getting taken or reserved (chances are, if a guy/girl knows that he/she has got a gem, they wont let go, meaning the fishes in your ocean are depleting), its time to stop playing the field and know what you want.

from a female's point of view, what i can offer are some advices i think the men are making which causes them to be in this situation. i of course cant speak or offer advices to women cus we all have the same blindspots (sorry girls!).

1) most men will have in their hearts, "the one that got away". he can spend years kicking himself in the balls but she's not ever going to come back, ever. females hate indecisive men who just disappear or run away once a little commitment sets in cus he just doesnt know what he wants. if she's with someone else now, i suggest you kick yourself even more. if you drop something into a well, dont expect to fish it back up.

2) some men just like to play the field, to date as many girls as they want, hoping to find THE one. chances are if you go partying and tryng to meet people up, the girls you meet will have the same mentality as you, and you will be back to square one.

3) boys, those dating books/the system is nothing but a bunch of bullshit. ask her out only once and leave her hanging for more, dont express your feelings to her or risk being seen as emotionally weak? pfft. they teach you how to be jerks and cassanovas, great for those in point 2. women like men who are caring and respectful.

4) if you dont party much, youre a great guy (or so you think), but youre still stuck. perhaps you should join your friends for lunches, house parties, meet mutual friends etc. if your have great friends, it means your friends will probably have the same kind of great friends you prefer, since birds of the same feather flock together.

5) feel free to give the men out there some suggestions girls!

as for me, i like someone with style, smarts, sensitivity, a sense of humour and savior faire. i think ive found him already. (:

admit it, there are just some weekends you wake up with totally no agenda for the day at all. you dont feel like leaving your apartment at all yet you dont want to spend the day just random web surfing/sleeping it away.

and not forgetting the gel top coat which strengthens your nails, prevents chipping and gives you a shine like actual gel nails minnus the waiting time and UV light. this is my absolute top pick. ;)

Dark eye rings

The only rings that women hate are dark eye rings. Some of us may notice the dark circles under our eyes have a bluish tint, while others may detect a brownish tone. Brown under eye circles are mainly caused by excessive melanin production in the epidermis layer of the skin.

While blue under-eye circles may be harder to conceal, they are also easier to get rid off. The bluish tint is due to broken capillaries and bad blood circulation around the eye area. The thin skin around your eyes (around 0.5 mm thick compared with 2 mm in other areas) makes the blue tint more obvious. Lack of sleep and fatigue causes the skin to look pale, hence aggravating the dark eye circles. Medical conditions such as eczema, allergies or any condition that makes the eyes itch can also contribute to the problem.

Puffiness

Is everyone telling you how tired you look when you're not feeling so? If so, it's a safe bet you've got some under eye "baggage".

Puffy lower lids are caused by various lifestyle factors which include high salt intake, excessive alcohol consumption and water retention. Medical conditions such as sinus is also one of the main culprits for puffy eye bags. Our sinuses drain just below our eyes; a process that mostly occurs while we are sleeping. This draining slows down if we do not get enough sleep, which is why fatigue can also cause our eyes to swell.

What you can do:

Get enough rest.
Watch your sodium intake.
Do not drink large amounts of fluids just before you sleep
Sleep with your head propped up so that fluids do not accumulate in your eye area.
Massage your eye regularly to flush out excess fluid.
Place chilled cucumber slices/cold spoons on your eye area to constrict blood vessels, diminish the flow of fluid into tissues and reduce swelling.

the skin around your eye area is extremely delicate, and once fine lines start to form, it's double the work to get your collagen back. an eye cream/gel is a good investment to keep your eye area supple.

red on the head, fire in bed! hawhaw. didnt get the shade of red i wanted cus my hair's naturally dark. but this is pretty rad under the sunlight, my main concern is my brows being oddly dark.

my agoraphobic nature has hit an all time high this week. i just want to go/stay home to do my work 80% of the time. the other 20% is dedicated to sleeping and taking extra long amounts of time to condition and mask my hair (im very much a hair person in case you havent already noticed). talking about hair, im stoked about my hair colour appointment this monday. red hair here i come! reference of shade is in 28th April's Wed Liberations. yes, i do actually take my WLs pretty seriously and try to fulfill them. i want to look back in years to come and tell myself, "wow, i managed to try these?". well, we write because sometimes, we forget to remember. which is pretty much why this blog exists.
